Issey Miyake - Vue Watch 7.11.2010

The VUE design development between fuseproject and fashion designer Issey Miyake started with the renewed recognition of the preciousness of time, especially that of the present moment. By using the disc hour hand with partial arc slits, only the current hour is shown while the others are kept out of sight. As the hour markers fade in and out of view, the result is that we see with our own eyes the present becoming the past and the future becoming the present.

The simple yet unexpected cylindrical glass top allows us to see the time from the side of the watch as well as the top. The light bounces from the top to the side, creating a visual lightness and playfulness. The wearer thereby witnesses the coming and going of time inside a glass showcase, and experiences a completely new view of time.

The design of the VUE watch was inspired by Behar's ideas of Time, Style and Mindset: -TIME: The dial numbers emerge out of the black or white background color, slowly fading into view or fading out of view. This magical appearance reminds the wearer of the time that has passed, and the future that is coming.
